Surely you’ve seen her tweets by now, but if not, let us fill you in! Monique has partnered with Youth Service America for a contest. The Grand Prize? 15 minutes on a Skype call with Mo! If you can answer the question “What’s Your M.O?” You could win!

Here the details:
How: What’s your passion and what you are doing to make a difference? Is it the environment, promoting healthy body image, addressing bullying? Tell us how you are drawing awareness to an issue and getting your friends and peers to make a change.

Create a :60 – :90 video telling Monique Coleman and YSA just that. We want to know all the good teens are doing around the world!

Why: To showcase how you are making a difference! The winner’s video will be featured on GimmeMo and s/he also will have a 15-minute exclusive Skype chat with Monique Coleman herself. Date and time of chat TBD and will be at GimmeMo’s discretion.

Where: Upload your video to You Tube and use the tag, “What’s Your M.O.?” If you don’t have a YouTube account you can sign up for free. Also send the link to communications@ysa.org. You MUST do both to be eligible to win.

Who: Teens 13-18, open internationally except entries from the following countries: Balkans (Serbia and Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo), Belarus, Burma (Myanmar), Cote D’Ivoire, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iran, Lebanon, Liberia, North Korea, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Syria or Zimbabwe. Employees and family members of employees at GimmeMo and YSA are not eligible to win.

When: The contest will run 10/31/2011 – 11/11/2011. Entries must be submitted to YouTube and via email by 11:59PM EST, Friday, November 11 to be eligible.

In last week’s new episode of Gimme Mo, Monique shared an incredibly emotional journey with us as she faced her greatest fear – birds. She shares through tears how this fear has inhibited her enjoyment of life, from pigeons on the street making her uncomfortable to not going to the beach by herself because of seagulls. This episode lets us see a dramatically different side of Monique. We love the open honesty and being taken on that journey with her. But watch the video and tell us what you think!

This week’s topic for Gimme Mo is the struggle that homosexual teens face everyday. Whether it’s the struggle to keep their secret and stay ‘closeted’ or the struggle to be accepted when they are out and proud, there is something we can do to help. So many gay and lesbian teens face intense bullying just because of who they are. In the past year, headlines across the country told us of students who committed suicide to escape the hateful words of their peers.

Gimme Mo: The World Tour

As part of her role as UN Youth Champion, Monique is about to set out on a SIX MONTH world tour. She’s starting her journey down under, Australia of course, where she will visit Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. Last night she tweeted “On the tour, I’ll be raising awareness about the @unyouthyear International Year of Youth and learning about different cultures.” As well as a copy of the tour poster!
