Monique Launches UN Mobile App

Thursday, Monique joined Stevie Wonder to launch the United Nation Foundation’s Mobile Application for the iPhone. The app aggregates news feeds from multiple UN agencies and programs and delivers the news in one integrated, real-time stream. Users can personalize their UN news by selecting the topic areas and regions of most interest. If you’d like, you can click here to download the app to your phone!

Today from 3pm to 5pm EDT, Monique will be participating in a special event as world population reaches the 7 billion mark to raise awareness around global issues related to women and girls, unleash their potential and empower them to bring social change. She will be joined by Louis Quam, Natalie Imbruglia and many others. If you head over to 7 Billion Actions you’ll be able to catch the livestream. Busy during the livestream? They’ll be posting the video of the event after it’s over as well!

Monique Makes It Snow in Beverly Hills

Reprising her role from last year, Monique was on hand at the lighting of the UNICEF Snowflake. Helping the mayor flip the switch on the giant snowflake, Monique helped the foundation illuminate the town with a beacon of hope, peace and compassion. The ceremony was accompanied by horse drawn carriage rides and performances by Katherine McPhee.

Monique Recieves “Making a Difference” Award

It seems to be the season of awards for our favorite Ms. Monique. As we recently mention, she was honored by the Atlanta Chapter of the NAACP with their Legacy Award. Last night, the recognition continued when Monique attended the Los Angeles Foodbank’s Season For Sharing Awards. Along with Vanna White and Marlee Matlin, Monique was given the “Making a Difference” Award for her continuing efforts to shine a light on the needs of those less fortunate. If you recall, she worked with the LA Foodbank as part of episode one of Gimme Mo’ in efforts to help get My Friend’s Place help in providing meals for the homeless youth they help.

Monique Receives NAACP Legacy Award

A few weeks back, Monique was honored by the NAACP Atlanta chapter with their Legacy Award. She was honored for her philanthropy through Gimme Mo’ and other charity work. We’re a little behind on reporting it, but we’re super excited to see Monique honored for all her hard work and dedication.

Ally Katzz Tween Summit

Last weekend, Monique was out and about in New York City meeting fans, decorating jeans and being the keynote speaker for Ally Katzz Tween Summit. The Summit honored 250 tween girls who are on a mission to change the world. They were rewarded not only with a presentation from our favorite, Monique Coleman, but saw performances from FeFe Dobson, Mitchel Musso, and Tiffany Thornton. Do You Want to Meet Mo?

Do you live in the New York area? Well this is your chance. If you’re 13 or over and plan to be in the Times Square area, Mo’s got a contest for you! She’s sending fans on a scavenger hunt to find the Gimme Mo’ ad in Times Square. Clues will be tweeted throughout the weekend through her official twitter. All you have to do to enter is take a picture of the ad and tweet it to her! Easy right? Three winners will be announced Sunday and have the chance to meet her. So get on it New York fans!

Monique to speak at AK Summit

On October 10, Monique will be in New York City to be the Keynote Speaker at the AllyKatzz Tween Girl Summit. From the website: “Hundreds of Tween Girls from across the nation will join together to SPEAK UP and BE HEARD by the world. They’ll change their world! They’ll meet people in high places including media, entertainment, fashion, sports and celebrities. Plus their very own VIP CONCERT! Amazing GOODY BAGS! Special Parent Lounge and Agenda.” Applications were just posted today so if you’re a tween girl in the area, check it out and maybe apply. All the info can be found here.

Following the Summit, Monique will be co-hosting the DenimMessaging VIP Concert. And for those of you who can’t make it there, it will be streamed live at JSYK.com

Press Screening of Gimme Mo’!!

Surrounded by friends, interviewees, and press, Monique kicked off the month with a celebration and screening of her new web series “Gimme Mo.’” Over the past few months we’ve seen pictures, videos, and tons of tweets regarding her new show and foundation, and with the release only a week away, the nerves and excitement are definitely getting to her! As she arrived to the event she tweeted “Just arrived at the screening. I’m pooping my pants.” We hope she got that mess cleaned up before going inside ;)

After it was over, we saw lots of great feedback on twitter. JustJaredJr tweeted “We just previewed @gimmemotalk’s new show and we have to say, it’s amazing! We can’t wait for everyone to see it on Sept 8th!” and friend Naturi Naughton added “The new Oprah is on the rise yall! So proud!”

Monique Attends the 20th Annual NAACP Theatre Awards

In between interviewing and voiceovers for Gimme Mo’, Monique got all dolled up and attended the 20th Annual NAACP Theatre Awards at the Directors Guild of America. As always, she looked gorgeous – proving that jewel tones really are her colors! Even if it was a short one, it’s good to see Monique taking a break from all the hard work she’s doing for her new talk show. Remember, it’s only 8 days away!!
