As the premiere of Monique’s talk show comes near, we seem to be getting more and more little behind the scenes teasers. We don’t know about you guys, but that only makes us more excited… if it’s even possible! Today on Monique’s tumblr we got to see behind the scenes of the photoshoot for Gimme MO advertisements. From the looks of the outfits and poses, it looks like she was portraying the various types of “typical” youth.

Press Screening of Gimme Mo’!!

Surrounded by friends, interviewees, and press, Monique kicked off the month with a celebration and screening of her new web series “Gimme Mo.’” Over the past few months we’ve seen pictures, videos, and tons of tweets regarding her new show and foundation, and with the release only a week away, the nerves and excitement are definitely getting to her! As she arrived to the event she tweeted “Just arrived at the screening. I’m pooping my pants.” We hope she got that mess cleaned up before going inside ;)

After it was over, we saw lots of great feedback on twitter. JustJaredJr tweeted “We just previewed @gimmemotalk’s new show and we have to say, it’s amazing! We can’t wait for everyone to see it on Sept 8th!” and friend Naturi Naughton added “The new Oprah is on the rise yall! So proud!”

We didn’t think we could get more excited than we were, but with praise like that… well, we’re BURSTING! Check out the pics from the event in the gallery and tell us in the poll… would you like to do a viewing party of Gimme MO next Wednesday??

Birthday Project Update

Those of you who voted in the poll decided overall you would most be interested in participating in a birthday scrapbook for Monique. Now, with only 2 months and 12 days ’til she hits the big 3-0, it’s crunch time! We need to decide what we are putting in this scrapbook! We will be working together with our friends over at VanAshBreNique, making it a joint gift between the two sites. Please Please PLEAASE comment or tweet us with what you would like to put in this book. Birthday wishes are a given. But what else would we like to do?

Monique Attends the 20th Annual NAACP Theatre Awards

In between interviewing and voiceovers for Gimme Mo’, Monique got all dolled up and attended the 20th Annual NAACP Theatre Awards at the Directors Guild of America. As always, she looked gorgeous – proving that jewel tones really are her colors! Even if it was a short one, it’s good to see Monique taking a break from all the hard work she’s doing for her new talk show. Remember, it’s only 8 days away!!

Monique Launches International Year of Youth

Yesterday at the United Nations, Monique had the honor of speaking at the launch of the Year of Youth. From August 12, 2010 to August 11, 2011, the United Nations will be recognizing youth with the aim to promote the ideals of peace, respect for human rights and solidarity across generations, cultures, religions and civilizations. Along with Monique, the audience heard speeches from Minister of Youth, Sport and Physical Education of Tunisia, Samir Laabidi, and the Permanent Representative of Benin to the United Nations, Jean-Francis Régis Zinsou; Secretary-General Ban; and Youth Representative Maya Saoud.

In her speech Monique had the following to say:

In 2010 it’s hard to believe that many parts of the world live on just a few dollars a day; that in America, the land of opportunity, the high-school drop-out rates are at an all time high. Or that in certain countries girls are being forced to become women far before they are ready. From global warming to human trafficking, earthquakes to corporate disaster, there is no shortage of world issues for us to be aware of. As future leaders it’s imperative that we open our eyes to our brothers and sisters all over the world and help solve problems down the street as well as across the sea.

Monique Covers FEARLESS Magazine

Available soon in stores everywhere: Monique Coleman on the cover of Fearless Magazine! The quarterly-published magazine has dedicated it’s front cover to the Class of 2010 – colored women working in Hollywood. Earlier this year, Vanity Fair published an issue dedicated to the “new Hollywood” and while the actress were all, no doubt, talented, the issue featured only white actress. So Fearless has answered back, and the line-up is quite impressive.

Joining Monique on the cover are Tia Mowry, Lauren London, Naturi Naughton, Chyna Lane, Jennifer Freeman, Tiffany Hines, and Kyla Pratt. And there’s no doubt they are all looking fierce! Monique Speaks at “I Am Perfect…” Event

While we may look at Monique as the epitome of perfection, she spent Friday with a group of other empowering women to help young adults realize they are perfect, exactly as they are. Shaun Robinson hosted the event I Am Perfect – Exactly As I Am. Monique Coleman, along with Laila Ali, Niecy Nash and others, spoke to young women who to share candid advice to teenage girls on what it takes to believe in themselves, others will share excerpts from “Exactly As I Am,” as well as personal life experiences and stories.
